FIRST PRIZE: Two Performances with The Victoria Chamber Orchestra
and $300 cash

FINALIST PRIZES: $100 each

ELIGIBILITY: All students of bowed stringed instruments, age 18 years and under as of January 1, 2010 who live on southern Vancouver Island. Previous grand prize winners are ineligible.

COMPETITION DATES:

PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL DATES ARE EARLIER THIS YEAR! DUE TO OUR GALA COMBINED ORCHESTRAS CONCERT IN APRIL, THE CONCERTO COMPETITION HAS BEEN MOVED TO THE VCO’S THIRD CONCERT.

December 12th, 2009 DEADLINE for submission of application form and tape/cd of one movement of concerto for first round of judging.

January 31st, 2010, 7:00 p.m. FINALIST COMPETITION  at the Copeland Lecture Hall, St. Michaels University School, 3400 Richmond Road: Live performance of entire concerto before an adjudication panel and audience. Winner will be announced following the performance.

March 12,th 2010, 8:00 p.m. First Metropolitan United Church: PERFORMANCE with V.C.O. and awarding of prizes.

March 14th, 2010, 2:30 p.m., St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Oak Bay: second PERFORMANCE with the V.C.O. PERFORMANCE with V.C.O. and awarding of prizes.

Other pieces may be admissible. Please contact us prior to application if you wish to play a piece that is not on the above list. The music director will determine its suitability for accompaniment by the V.C.O.
