It has been a challenging season, but the Victoria Chamber Orchestra has continued to work within the framework of our public health guidelines to bring music to our community. As you probably know, we streamed a concert of serenades in October (you can still take in our performance below). The Baroque concert we planned to bring you in November had to be postponed.
In keeping with our objective to support young musicians, Yariv has held Zoom workshops with students from Victoria high schools. Our Louis Sherman Concerto Competition for talented string players is also proceeding, adapted with virtual submissions for adjudication.
Looking to the future when groups will again be allowed to gather, we are working individually on R. Strauss' Metamorphosen. This beautifully moving work is composed for 23 strings, and Yariv is coaching us via Zoom on our unique parts. We are very much looking forward to the time when we can bring the VCO players together, first in rehearsal, then in a performance for you.
